A long time ago they were very slow to update the test bank when laws changed so one could actually answer a question pertaining to Georgia law correctly and be marked wrong because the test bank reflected the old law. I would assume it is similar to the final exam test over everything they give at the end of the academy now in Georgia. Rumor has it is that it is very challenging, unlike most POST exams in Georgia, and has a high failure rate. The test, not the COMPASS which replaced the POST entry exam about a decade back, covers the topics listed on the website of POST. The catch is if you fail you have to do the whole academy to become certified in Georgia. In the past, they would attend an abbreviated academy (usually show up for the weeks a regional class covered the topics) in high-liability areas or those that differ between the states like firearms, Georgia law, driving (EVOC after it became required in the mid-late 90s) if the POST council judged their prior certification to be similar or greater than Georgia's.įor some reason, maybe litigation?, they changed to a test you can challenge if you are certified elsewhere and become certified (maybe firearms are still required, unsure). I'm too lazy tonight to look this up, but as I recall GA POST changed the standards for an out of state officer to become certified in Georgia a few years ago.

We had a similar book in PA, but we were issued it in the Academy. The GA POST website suggests picking up the GA Law Enforcement Handbook. My concern is spending the $300 and sitting down and taking the MPOETC final all over again, except now with completely different questions I have no way to study for. Stuff like "how to judiciously use a flashlight" and "how to use a speedloader", all with answers that look like the right one. MANY of the questions were those "you had to be in the academy and remember the answer from the class slide deck" type. The difference is, MPOETC is perpetually stuck 25 years ago and the written tests throughout the academy and the final written test were a culmination of some of the most bizarre questions you've ever read.
